For reasons I can't now recall, we decided that it would be a great idea to take Max to visit the zoo for the first time in his life on one of the hottest days this summer.
The LA Zoo is, unfortuantely, just about what you would expect a zoo here to be like: hot, barren and unattractive. And, oddly, it seems that they have only 3 kinds of animals at the LA Zoo: flamingos, goats and sheep. Lots of flamingos, in several different locations. Oh, and one lonely and very bedraggled looking meercat, who just kept trying to find a cool place to hide from the sweltering Griffith Park sun.Max enjoyed the petting zoo (should be called the "patting" zoo since that's actually what all the little kids seem to do), and he especially liked pulling the goats' tails when we weren't looking.
Went to Chicago this week for a work conference, and brought Max with me to visit the family. He's only 10 months old, but we decided to take the opportunity to throw a birthday party, Remus-family style.

Max went swimming for the 2nd time in his little life, and before I covered him up in wetsuit & floppy hat, he modeled his Euro-fabulous rock star look for us.
Aw...isn't he handsome? And we only had to endure 40 minutes of body-racking sobs, and vomiting 5 times all over Mommy, Pampa & the stressed-out hairdresser to arrive at these results. Either Daddy takes him next time, or Max isn't getting his hair cut again until he's six.
