Damon's 40th Birthday in Mammoth

For Damon's 40th birthday, I threw him a surprise snowboarding party in Mammoth. He knew about the trip, of course, but didn't know that about 18 of our closest friends would be joining us.

The trip was a bit of a mixed bag: great snow, Max went skiing for the first time in his life, lots of wonderful friends. However, at 5 months pregnant I (of course) didn't go snowboarding. And unfortunately, the party was capped off by a trip for Max to the emergency room when we discovered that the birthday cake was full of both waxed paper (between the layers) and little metal spikes (in the chocolate flowers). He was fine, thank god, but..yuck.
